Grandparents' visit!

                                                                   Grandma w/ twins
Last week Grandma and Grandpa came over for a few days! We had fun playing games and cracking wise. There is a bit of rivalry when it come to certain games. Grandma and I both LOVE to win Monopoly! It just so happend to be my lucky turn! After the long days we were sad to see them go.

Lizard!!

We ended up with a lizard running free in the house today. I immediately called for Matthew, who can catch them, but by the time he got there the lizard had gone out of his own accord. Whew! That hasn't happened since we lived in Yuma.

BasketBall

Matthew w/ basketball
Basketball is going well, but they cancelled 2 practices and 1 game recently.  There was something going on at the church I am playing at. Playing is harder than I expected, but I am getting the hang of it. We are 3-1. We lost that last game by 1.  :o(  I was home with horrible allergies. I am working on my shooting. I have only scored 18 points in all.

No more diapers!

The Girls With Their "Potty Charts"
Joanna on the left, Deborah on the right

A couple weeks ago I finally got up the courage to potty train the twins.  We had tried unsuccessfully a few times before and it was TERRIBLE with twice the mess and twice the laundry.  But, this time I was determined and the girls were ready.  I put up the baby gate to keep them in the kitchen with me.  I had found that letting them wander, like normal, left me with no idea where they were and therefore no idea where the pee-pee mess was.  So the gate was good and the 3 of us would remain in the kitchen until "the light went on."  The first few hours were bad.  Had you stopped by for a visit around 11:00 you would have found me in the kitchen with my head in my hands ready to give up!  We had already offered candy and pretty underwear, but nothing was working.  Hmmmmmm... well, time to get serious.  I took all the boots, Joanna's horsey boots, Deborah's horse boots, the cards Gramma and Grampa sent for Valentine's Day, the Valentine snow globes Granny had just given them, the books they carry around with them all day long.  Let's just say that anything they wanted to play with or touch I took away, placed it up high on top of the cabinet (where they could see it) and told them that if they wanted it back they would have to learn to go potty on the toilet!!  I also made charts with stickers and if they filled up a row they could have a piece of gum!!  Big time!!  It worked and they were trained in 2 days.  Yay!!  No more diapers.  No more stinky poop clean-up!  Two potty trained little girls!

All County Band

Not at All County, but at the Graham Christmas Parade

The last few days have been filled with All County Band for Rachel, Matthew and Mary.  Sunday evening we tore down the stage at The Lamb's Chapel and set up 100 plus chairs for the Home School Band and 3 local charter school bands.  Amazingly it only took 1 hour to do it!  Then Monday and Tuesday were filled with practices.  Monday they were there for 5 hours and Tuesday for 4 hours.  Rachel reports that our director, Mr. Morris, asked her to help quite a bit in setting up snacks for all the kids and showing people where things were.  I wish I could've been around to do all that, but there was no way I could with 4 young kids in tow!!  Someday... someday!!... I will be the mom who can do it all. (ha, ha)  Tuesday evening was the concert.  It was very well done.  We could tell that Mr. Morris worked them hard, it was an entertaining bunch of songs that he picked, and the twins and I tapped our toes throughout several of them!!  Having been the one to request the use of TLC I felt responsible that everything be back in place before we leave.  Quite a few of the kids stayed around to help load chairs, music stands and put the choir area back in order.  I must say I am very thankful for my great friend, Amy, who helped with clean up and her husband, Jay, who helped reassemble the stage!  I'd have been a wreck without them!  God is good.  He always provides!
